Submitting News & Press Releases

You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your press release along with your contact information.  For best results be sure to include an image - page views more than triple when a news update includes a relevant picture.  Releases without an image will be placed in the lower newsfeed area with a generic image.

Placement options

To get on our BIG image scroller at the top and get maximum attention, include a sharp 999x430 textless image and a short blurb (max 40 words).  Don't forget to include a link!

To be added to our ongoing newsfeed, which has no text limit, send us your entire press release.  It is positioned further down the page next to the film reviews.  For formatting on the page your release may be edited a bit.  A 218x130 image will be placed above your intro text, so including a screenshot or relevant picture is a great way to grab more readers.  Otherwise a generic image will be used.  This image can have text, but if it's any larger than specified it will be scaled down.  Larger images can be included within your press release as long as they don't exceed 660 pixels in width or 80k in filesize.  660x336 is the recommended image size for a header picture.

Images must be in JPG, GIF or PNG format.

We automatically select news items for inclusion in our Twitter feed if they can be abbreviated easily.

Submitting a Film for Review

There are a number of ways your film can be reviewed at Film Rogue.  Rogue Reviews, the video podcast produced by Timothy Whitfield, reviews online media selected by Timberwolf West.  Add your video to our library (either uploading directly or by embedding a YouTube/Vimeo file), and then write Timberwolf.  This is an easy way to generate awareness if your film or web series is available online.  Be aware that this vodcast does not review every submission due to time constraints. Instead they select the best submissions and discuss them on the program.

If your film is not available online, you can send a DVD or BD screener to Film Rogue directly at the address below.  It will be screened by Jon Ashby or one of the Rogue critics, then discussed on either one of our podcasts or as a written article.  We may contact you for a follow-up interview so be sure to e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your contact information, the names of your principal cast and key crew (with pronunications if needed), and images we can use for your review.

Image guidelines: If possible, please provide with your e-mail one hi-resolution textless publicity image, at least 1000 pixels wide.  It can be a a screenshot or cast/crew photo.  Our big front image rotator grabs the most readers, and the dimensions are 999x430.  If you can meet these dimensions that's great, otherwise send us a clear, larger image and we'll edit is as needed.  Additionally you may send up to three smaller images for use with your article.  Wide images are preferable to tall images.  For best results we recommend a 660x336 header image and a 218x130 intro image, but if you simply send us images that are bigger than this we will scale them as needed.

Films that are sent by mail will be screened, and normally all films are reviewed in the order in which they are received.  Please be patient as we all have day jobs and often have to free up time to screen movies.  (For this reason shorts tend to be reviewed more quickly.)

Some things to note: all movies and press kits are added to our physical library and are not returned.  Film Rogue makes no guarantees about the timeliness or tone of our reviews, although we do strive to be as quick as possible.  Even if we do not provide a favorable review for your work rest assured we still appreciate your submission and efforts.

Submitting an Article

We welcome new writers to our team all the time!  If you have a film-related blog that you would like to mirror at Film Rogue with a linkback, or would like to start a new blog hosted by us, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and he'll hook you up.  For an individual article simply mail your submission to the same address with any images you'd like to include and we'll add it in.  Any film-related article is acceptable, ranging from your thoughts on a recent festival to a review of another film or book.  We ask you include with your submission at least one 95x117 image to appear on the front page next to your introduction text.  It can be related to your article or a picture of yourself, as long as it's clear and you have the legal right to use it.  We reserve the right to refuse articles if we feel they do not meet the minimum standards or mandate of our website.
