Talking with Zeke Hawkins
Better late than never, this week I jam with Zeke Hawkins about his film Equestrian Sexual Response. This coming-of-age film about a young girl entering her teenage years takes place on a ranch, so how did LA based Hawkins and crew secure the perfect location? We also discuss cinematography and some of the international fests the film is going to.

Talking With Chase Kuertz

Waddya Shoot With?
There was a time when this question meant you used video instead of film, and later if you used MiniDV instead of Hi8. Now it's all digital all the time, and we still seem to preoccupy ourselves with the latest digital gadgetry for making movies. It's a recurring theme in this week's news update as a newly renamed film company plans a RED shoot, and Chase posts his Canon 5D shot trailer for In Aggression. Light-Dark, Baby!
This week for my podcast I'm stoked to finally check out Chiaroscuro, Baby by Anthony Kilburn. This black and white feature has the one vital thing that makes even an ensemble cast of hit-and-miss performances very enjoyable. What is it that makes Killacozzy's movie so watchable? (No, it's not the abundance of nudity throughout the film guys.) Just download right here to listen to the show and find out. Congrats to the whole gang for their premiere on the 4th in Jacksonville!
The Oblivion Interview
For today's podcast I had a chance to talk with Oblivion writer-director Mike Cuenca and DP-colorist-everything-else Jessica Gallant about their web series. Little known secrets about the countdown timer on their website, what can be expected in season two, and the benefits of casting a pyromaniac in your show - it's all here! If you miss this one we'll assume you're in prison - you can download the show directly here.
Talking with Timothy Whitfield
This week I chat with Timothy Whitfield of Timberwolf about the two films he has been working on this year. How the two horror flicks are very different from one another, what it's been like since moving to California, and how he's scored distribution - it's all on this week's program. Review: Son of a Seahorse
For this podcast I review Son of a Seahorse, written, directed, recorded, edited.. all by Mary and Tom Russell. Can a 97 minute comedy about an angry guy even hold my attention? Will it's claims of cool creature effects and witty performances be true? Download the show today and find out, if you dare.
Talking with the Killacozzy Crew
This week brings a podcast with a little cross-section of everything; commentary on film blogs, some news about a west coast film event, and an interview with the team behind KillaCozzy Productions. Download the show right here!
Talking with Joe Burke
This week I talk with AFI graduate Joe Burke about his thesis film Nice Knowing You. I spoke highly of this twenty minute drama last week, today I find out about Joe's way of working with actors, the kind of budget AFI filmmakers have and where they get it. Check it by downloading the show directly or subscribing to the feed.
Review: Nice Knowing You
This week I review AFI thesis film Nice Knowing You by Joe Burke. Three actors, a simple yet dramatic script, and a twenty minute runtime. Does it deliver real feeling, or does it put me to sleep? Only one to find out. Well I suppose you could just ask me, but download the show - it's faster and more fun.
The Angry Filmmaker Returns
Some good words come to mind when I think of Kelley Baker, and 'reserved' isn't one of them! When you check out his new book you'll agree, it's title The Angry Filmmaker Survival Guide: Part One - Making The Extreme Low Budget Film. It's been six months to the day since I last had Kelley on the program, and this time we talk about everything from his book to movie piracy to film festivals. Talking With Pete Bauer
Since the early days of this site's predecessors Pete Bauer has been a regular contributor, filmmaker and author, so it's been a long time coming that I've been able to have a one-on-one with the man behind Sonlight Pictures. We discuss the dilemnas of Christian-niche marketing, movies with obvious and less-obvious faith themes, and of course the recent win for Club God at the Faith Film Festival. Get all this, plus details on his next project, by downloading the show directly, or Subscribing today.

Talking with Ryan Andrew Balas
So last week I knocked his film Carter, it only seems fair that this week I invite the film's director to the program to talk about it! Ryan Andrew Balas joins me, we talk about his film, the fact that he only had a fifteen page script that emphasized improv, and what the hell 'cognitive dissonance' means. You can click here to download the show, but I recommend subscribing with your favorite feedcatcher by clicking the Podcast button above..
Review: Carter
This week I review Carter, another film sent from One Way or Another on the east coast. Ryan Andrew Balas directs this experimental narrative about a happily suicidal guy who has a hot girlfriend and .. issues. According to Sonic Cinema the film is about idiosyncrasies in human behavior, and the audience will 'feel a genuine connection with these characters that's hard to ignore'. I didn't find it too difficult. Click here to download this week's podcast, or Subscribe today by clicking Podcast on the main menu.
