Five Ways to Get Sales You Might Not Have Thought Of |

Film Rogue is barely out of the gate and we're already seeing sales, which is a great sign that our little experiment is probably going to be a success! Who knew that filmmakers deserve, and even enjoy, getting paid. It's already becoming clear which movies are selling better than others, and after creating a good quality movie, here are some good ways to move digital copies, including a few you may not have considered.
- 1. Direct promote your film through social networks. Sometimes a buyer may stumble upon your film while browsing at Film Rogue, but it's much more likely to result in a sale if they heard about your movie and are looking for it. Create a page on Facebook to discuss your film, and interact with your visitors. Link to your trailers. Twitter about it's availability. Blog about making it perhaps, and let the audience be part of the experience. Just be careful not to cross the line between discussion and hard-selling, or your followers and Likes might vanish.
- 2. Make your movie easy to find and buy. One way to make this easier is to pick up a subdomain with Rogue, so instead of http://www.filmrogue.com/reallylong/url-to-your/movie?option=3... you just have yourmovie.filmrogue.com. Sharing it is easy, and unlike generic link shortening services it doesn't expire and is easy to remember for anyone who reads it. Click Contact Us from the top menu to request this or any of the other add-ons we offer. (They're dirt cheap.)
- 3. Be careful not to underprice! After seeing what sells best here, it's actually the more expensive items. Many shoppers associate a slightly higher purchase price with a better quality product. Movie shoppers are less concerned about cost than they are about an enjoyable experience. Just be sure you're delivering value to your customers.
- 4. We do get a lot of casual shoppers who find their way here from a search engine for independent films, and they do buy movies on impulse. The items shown in the trailers on our home page have so far outsold the other items by a respectable margin. The bottom line is having a trailer on the front page will boost your sales potential beyond those you drive to the site yourself, provided you've cut an engaging promo! Just be forewarned, a poor trailer can have the opposite effect.
- 5. Promote the other films you enjoy on Rogue. Overall increased traffic mean higher revenues for everyone here, and so far the average purchase isn't just one movie, it's actually two. A percentage of our sales isn't just outside purchases, it's purchases between filmmakers supporting one another. Drop a few bucks back into the community and it will pay dividends.
Here's to good sales of great films! Best of luck producers!
